From the contents: Heaven of Grecian Spirits; Interview with Swedenborg; Heaven of American Indians; The Sabbath in the Heavens; Perversions of Doctrine in the Hells. - Thomas Lake Harris (1823-1906), American spiritualistic prophet, who wrote poems that he received in trance. Harris organized the First Independent Christian Society and his ideas were influenced especially by Swedenborg. He established a community, which was later known as Salem-on-Erie. Laurence Oliphant joined him around 1867, but after a few years their relationship broke. - A bit rubbed and the edges knocked; owner`s mark, else a good copy.
